Handmade in Dorset
Handcrafted in our Dorset workshop using natural materials, each piece is made with care, thought, and attention to detail.
Personalised gifts • Bespoke projects • Small batch commissions
Who we are
We're a husband and wife team based in Dorset, creating custom pieces from wood, slate, and other natural materials.
What started as making gifts for people we care about grew — through word of mouth — into Dorset Custom Crafts. We don't mass-produce, and we don't rush. Each order is treated as a small project, not just a transaction.
If something matters to you, we take the time to make sure it's done properly.
Examples of our work
From personalised chopping boards and slate pieces to memorials, wedding items, and Dorset-inspired designs.
How it works
Every custom piece starts with a conversation.
A name, a message, a photo, or something more unusual. We'll talk it through and check what will work best.
Grace handles the design and layout, and creates a design for your approval before anything is made.
Richard works with the materials and machinery in our workshop, so the finished piece feels right — not rushed or generic.

Materials & values
We work primarily with wood and slate, sourcing locally where possible and choosing materials that feel solid, honest, and made to last.
We're not corporate. We don't follow trends. We focus on making things properly, with care and attention.
Standard & bespoke
Some items are available as standard designs — ideal for gifts or events.
If you're looking for something truly personal, we're happy to create a bespoke piece or a small batch for weddings, events, or organisations. Either way, the same care goes into every order.
If you're thinking about a personalised gift, a memorial piece, or a custom project, we'd love to hear about it.
